QIS is proud of its strong and well established board who bring a wealth of experience, which is key to helping drive the strategic direction of this business:
Abdulrahman Al Shaibi, Chairman
Mr. Al-Shaibi is Director of Finance for the Qatar Petroleum Group. He is a member of various Executive Committees, responsible for the ambitious expansion plans of Qatar Petroleum in the LNG sector, petrochemicals and non-energy sector projects such as aluminum and steel. He is also part of a select team responsible for developing a suitable business model for Qatar Petroleum International, the international arm of QP. Qatar Petroleum International is expected to lead the development efforts for various international energy projects and transform QP from only a local player to a global energy player in the years to come. Mr Al-Shaibi is a member of the State’s Finance Policy Committee, and is also a Board member of various other companies including Qatargas, its sister companies and QASCO. Mr. Al-Shaibi is the Chairman of Qatar Insurance Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of the QFC Authority responsible for promoting the Qatarlyst product, a web-based trading platform for the insurance and reinsurance industry.
Leonard Schrank
Co-founder, Chairman and CEO of ACT3 Technologies LLC, and previously CEO of SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication).
Max Taylor
Currently Chairman of Mitsui-Sumitomo London Insurance Companies and previously Chairman of Lloyd’s of London.
Khalid Al Mughesib
Khalid joined QIS in April 2010 as Deputy CEO. He previously worked for Qatar Petroleum and Al Koot Insurance & Reinsurance Co. (QP Captive) as Energy Insurance Manager and for Al Jasr Takaful as General Manager. He brings 18 years of experience in local, regional and international insurance.
James Sutherland
As well as being the CEO of QIS since early 2009, James is also the General Manager of Qatarlyst. James has been involved in this exciting initiative since the beginning in his role as Director of Business Development Insurance and Reinsurance at the QFCA Authority; a role which he first took up in April 2008. He brings more than 30 years of insurance experience in a career spanning both London and Asia in his capacity as broker and underwriter and latterly with Lloyd’s of London where he was responsible for international business development and the operations of the Lloyd’s overseas network.
Shashank Srivastava
Shashank joined the QFC Authority in April 2006. He has 16 years of global experience in the strategy consulting and investment industries, and has held key positions with Dresdner RCM Global Investors, Andersen Consulting and (in the region) with Abraaj Capital and DIFC. He has also worked for Swiss Re and Prudential of UK.
